Your Mochi account

VoiceMochi works with a Mochi account. This account is shared by the Mochi family of apps published by MochiApp LLC, which today means CleanMochi and VoiceMochi: whether you create it on cleanmochi.com or on voicemochi.com, it's the same account, in the same database. You confirm your email with a code we send you, then sign in from the app. Here's everything we store.

For your account

• your first name and email address;
• your password, which Supabase stores hashed, meaning irreversibly transformed, so nobody on our side can read it;
• the date you accepted the license agreement and this policy;
• whether you want the newsletter, which is optional (the box is unchecked by default);
• your language (English or French) and the site where you created your account;
• when your account was created and when you last signed in.

For your licenses

You have one license per app. For each one we keep its key (CM-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX for CleanMochi, VM-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX for VoiceMochi), its plan (free, beta or premium), its status and how many Macs it covers. The license for the app whose site you sign up on is created with your account; the license for another app in the family is created the first time you sign in to that app. We never send the key by email: you only see it once you're signed in, under My account or in the app.

For each linked Mac

• your Mac's name, the one you gave it in macOS;
• its macOS version and the app's version;
• when it first signed in, when it last checked its license and when it was last used;
• when you removed it, if you did;
• an anonymous ID for the Mac. It's an irreversibly encrypted fingerprint of the Mac's hardware ID: it can't be traced back to your serial number, which we never receive.

How you use the apps

• for each app, the days you opened it and the days you actually used it: a yes or a no per day, with no content;
• for VoiceMochi, a daily counter: the number of texts processed and the number of seconds of audio transcribed. It's used to apply the daily usage limit. The content of your dictations, texts and meetings isn't stored on our servers: it goes through our relay to Groq, our transcription provider, and the result comes back to your Mac. The details are below, under "The VoiceMochi app".

You can see your licenses and Macs under My account. If you remove a Mac from that page, the app on that Mac signs out right away.

What we use it for

• to provide your account and licenses, and to check that each license is used on the number of Macs it covers;
• to apply VoiceMochi's daily usage limits, which keep the cost of the service under control;
• to protect your account and the service from abuse, and to know how many people use each app;
• to send you the emails tied to your account: confirmation, sign-in and password reset codes;
• to reply when you contact support;
• to send you the newsletter, only if you ticked the box. You can unsubscribe in one click.

The legal basis is the license agreement you accept when you create your account, our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and following how it's used, and your consent for the newsletter.

Who processes it for us

• Supabase hosts the account, license and Mac database, on servers in the European Union, in Paris. It also runs our relay to VoiceMochi's transcription service.
• Resend sends the emails tied to your account, like confirmation codes, from the European Union, in Ireland.
• Cloudflare hosts the cleanmochi.com and voicemochi.com websites.

We don't sell or rent your data.

How long we keep it

For as long as your account exists. To delete it, email us at [email protected] from your account's address: we erase your account, licenses, Macs and usage within one month. Deletion applies to every Mochi app, including on cleanmochi.com. You can also remove a Mac yourself, under My account.

The VoiceMochi app

What leaves your Mac, and why

This data is sent only when you use the feature in question:

• Dictation. The recording of your voice, from the moment you press your key until you let go. The resulting text is then sent back to the service to be cleaned up (hesitations, punctuation, style, and translation if you turned it on). The words in your dictionary are used to spell names correctly.
• Transforms. The text you selected and the instruction you spoke.
• Meeting notes. The recording of your voice and of the call audio, then the transcript, to write the notes.

It goes through our relay, hosted by Supabase, which checks your license and your daily limit, then passes it on without storing it. It is processed by Groq, Inc., in the United States, our transcription and writing provider, only to send you back the result. We don't sell it and don't use it for advertising.

What stays on your Mac

• your dictation history (text, time, app used, word count);
• the audio of each dictation, kept for 7 days so you can play it back or recover it, then deleted automatically;
• your meetings: notes, transcripts and recordings, until you delete them;
• your notebook, snippets, dictionary, per-app style and settings;
• your statistics (words dictated, time saved, speed, streak), calculated on your Mac.

You can delete a dictation or a meeting from the app at any time. This data also goes away when you delete the app and its files.

What the app reads on your Mac

To type in the right place, the app checks which app is in front and whether there is a text field, and it uses the clipboard to paste the text. To offer meeting notes, it checks which app is using your microphone. This information is used on the spot and isn't sent anywhere. Only the style you chose for that app (casual, natural or polished) goes along with the dictation.

Meetings and other participants

When you take notes, the other participants' voices are recorded. It's up to you to tell them and, where the law requires it, to get their consent. Mochi reminds you every time.

No analytics

The app contains no analytics or advertising tools.

The voicemochi.com website

The site sets no cookies, uses no trackers or analytics and shows no ads. That's why there's no cookie banner.

• Account. The sign-up and sign-in forms send what you type to Supabase, which hosts the accounts. While you're signed in, your session is kept in your browser's local storage. It isn't an advertising cookie: it only keeps you signed in, and it's cleared when you sign out.
• Hosting. Our host, Cloudflare, processes the technical data needed to show you the site and protect it from attacks: IP address, browser type, pages requested, date and time. We don't use it to track you.
• Fonts and video. The fonts and the presentation video are hosted on our own site. Your browser doesn't contact any third party to display them.
• Waitlist. The form doesn't send anything by itself: it opens your email app with a message ready to go. Nothing is sent until you send it.

When you write to us

If you write to [email protected], to join the waitlist or with a question, we receive your email address, your name if it appears, and your message. We use them only to reply, or to announce the release. The legal basis is your request, and your consent for the release announcement.

• Waitlist: address deleted after the release announcement.
• Other conversations: kept for 3 years after our last exchange, then deleted.

Transfers outside the European Union

The account and license database is hosted in the European Union. MochiApp LLC, Groq and Cloudflare are located in the United States. When personal data from the European Union is processed outside the Union, the transfer relies on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework for providers that take part in it, or on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to or port your data, and withdraw your consent at any time. Write to us at [email protected]: we reply within one month. Anything stored on your Mac, you can delete yourself from the app. You can also change your password and remove a Mac yourself, under My account.

If you think we aren't respecting your rights, you can contact the CNIL (www.cnil.fr) or the data protection authority in your country.

If you live in California: we don't sell or share your personal information as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act.

Children

VoiceMochi isn't meant for children under 15 and we don't knowingly collect their data. If it has happened, write to us and we'll delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and its date. If the change affects the app, we'll also tell you in the app.
